Beaujolais Nouveau Day falls on the third Thursday of November every year. This year it will occur on Thursday 21 November, and Bistro Rex will be celebrating with a Beaujolais Nouveau Long Weekend from Thursday 21 until Sunday 24 November! We will also be featuring a Beaujolais & Cheese Masterclass event on Saturday 23 November.What is Beaujolais Nouveau Day?Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made with Gamay grapes that comes from the historical province of Beaujolais, located in the north of the wine producing region of Lyon, France.Since 1985 Beaujolais Nouveau wine is released worldwide on the third Thursday of November.What makes Beaujolais Nouveau wine so special is that it is made available just six to eight weeks after the the Gamay grapes have been harvested. There is a special artisan technique to speed up the fermentation process, and it is popular for its sweet, light and fruity taste.LEARN MORE

Beaujolais & Cheese Masterclass

Bistro Rex is hosting a Beaujolais & Cheese Masterclass!To celebrate the launch of the 2019 Beaujolais Nouveau, Bistro Rex is partnering with Heath Felton, from Global Grapevine and Penny Lawson, of Penny’s Cheese Shop fame for a Beaujolais & Cheese Masterclass.Join us on Saturday 23rd November for a unique journey of cheese and wine through six of the regions of Beaujolais, including Morgon, Fleurie and Chiroubles. You’ll discover the influence of terroir on the Gamay grape as it is used in Beaujolais, accompanied by a heavenly selection of cheeses from the regions of Beaujolais, Burgundy and The Rhone Valley.Heath and Penny wax lyrical about all things Beaujolais and cheese on the day. An event not to be missed!
