Beaujolais Nouveau Day - 19 November

Beaujolais Nouveau Day - 19 November

Beaujolais Nouveau Wine Weekend Celebration: Thursday 19 November till Sunday 22 November

What is Beaujolais Nouveau Day?

Beaujolais Nouveau is a red wine made with Gamay grapes from the historical province of Beaujolais, located in the north of the wine producing region of Lyon, France.

Since 1985 and by French law, Beaujolais Nouveau wine has been released to the world at 12.01am on the third Thursday of November.

What makes Beaujolais Nouveau wine so special is that it is made available just six to eight weeks after the Gamay grapes have been harvested. A special artisan technique is implemented to speed up the fermentation process (which takes a few weeks), and it is considered the most popular of vin de primeur (or nouveaux wines) thanks to its sweet, light and fruity taste.
